AirHAWK

The Latest in Cutting-Edge Technology

There are several technology options available to remove vehicle exhaust emissions: Source Capture Systems, Diesel Particulate Filter, Air Cleaning Systems and Simple Drop Systems. Each system is explained below. MagneGrip Exhaust Removal Systems offer the most advanced technology available for exhaust removal. Tested and proven in thousands of applications, the unique features of MagneGrip Exhaust Removal Systems make them the first choice among firefighters.

30+ Years in Airflow Engineering Design

Unit placement and design of the air circulation pattern are critical to air purification and circulation effectiveness. The AirHAWK engineering team has more than 30 years of airflow design expertise. For each application, AirHAWK designs an effective air circulation pattern that provides continuous air purification and coverage for an entire area or facility.

4-Stage Filtration Process

AirHAWK Air Purification Systems offer the most advanced air filtration available. Each unit provides four stages of filtration with our unique, patented Photo-Catalytic Oxidation process.

AirHAWK Has "Best Technology" Filtration

Each AirHawk unit provides four stages of filtration with our unique, patented Photo-Catalytic Oxidation process.

Best Technology Features
1. Prefilter – Pleated filter of 100% synthetic fiber with metal reinforcement laminated to the exiting-air side of the media. The filter is rated class 2 under U.L. Std. 900.

2. Primary Filter – High-efficiency particulate filter has pleated, micro fiberglass media and V-bank extended surface for high-capacity performance. Thermoplastic separators provide consistent spacing to ensure aerodynamic airflow and media pack is encapsulated in a heavy-duty plastic frame.

3. Photo-Catalytic Oxidizer – Contains ultraviolet lamps and a patented, specially coated grid that accelerates UV effectiveness. During operation, toxic compounds such as carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide are converted into benign constituents such as carbon dioxide and water vapor.

4. Gas-Phase Filter – Media is a 50/50 blend of coconut shell activated charcoal and zeolite, impregnated with potassium permanganate. Thousands of pores trap and absorb volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to remove them from a facility’s breathing area.

Optional / Multi-Sak Filter (3000 XL only) – High-efficiency dust/particulate filter has two media options, synthetic and micro fiberglass, each with aluminum cross supports. The sack-type filter is unaffected by moisture and humidity.

For the fire/EMS market, most air cleaning systems remove particulates and some gas-phase pollutants that are released in diesel exhaust. AirHAWK offers the only system with the additional protection of Photo-Catalytic Oxidation and Ultraviolet Radiation.

Photo-Catalytic Oxidation (PCO)
As many as 10,000 chemical substances are found in diesel exhaust and many are listed as cancer-causing or suspected carcinogens. Compounds such as nitrous oxide, nitrogen dioxide, benzene, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, etc., can create serious health problems and exasperate certain health conditions such as asthma and heart disease. PCO eliminates or mitigates gas-phase organic contaminants and protects personnel in the building.

Germicidal Protection
AirHAWK's patented system with PCO also utilizes ultraviolet (UV) light to remove viruses, mold, bacteria and other airborne pathogens from the air. Systems without PCO-UV allow germs to reenter the air stream and pass from person to person. An AirHAWK system doesn't just clean the air, it "purifies" the air. PCO-UV also assists in breaking down volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - a large class of air pollutants - which can be up to ten times higher indoors than outdoors.

Exhaust Removal + Air Purification For Maximum Protection

Fire departments and municipalities throughout the country are taking a hard look at the overwhelming statistics and warnings about firefighter/EMT health (Exhaust Emissions Increase Cancer Risk). Many fire departments are fixing the problem by combining two state-of-the-art systems from one company—MagneGrip—to ensure that their firefighter/EMTs have maximum protection.

MagneGrip is the only company that manufactures both source-capture exhaust removal systems (MagneGrip) using hose-and-nozzle that connect to the apparatus tailpipe, and air purification systems (AirHAWK) filtration units that suspend from the ceiling. This combination provides the most complete protection from engine diesel exhaust, off-gases from equipment and turnout gear used at the fire scene, toxic air blown in from the tarmac, and airborne contamination. This combination system provides greater liability protection for municipalities—and it best fits the intent of FEMA and NFPA recommendations.

"Though you showed us scientific data on AirHAWK's performance, our own experience is proof enough for us. It smells better and we no longer contend with diesel soot covered walls and surfaces." - Michael Pandy, Lieutenant, Eastlake (OH) F.D.
